Abstract

Introduction: Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm (SPN) of the pancreas is a rare but enigmatic entity occurring mainly in young women. First described by Franz in1959, and for several years it has been considered a “borderline” tumor, but recent molecular evidence demonstrating alterations in cancer-associated genes and the ability to metastasize have confirmed the true malignant nature of this disease. In spite of its low potential malignancy the tumor can be locally aggressive.
