Abstract

Introduction: Varicosis is a common disease in Western society with a prevalence of up to 73%. It is often caused by insufficiency of the truncal vein, predominantly the great saphenous vein (GSV). In the last decade, endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) has replaced high ligation and stripping as the treatment for truncal insufficiency. The long term clinical effect of EVLA has thus far not been studied. The aim of this retrospective cohort study was to determine the long term recurrence rate of clinically relevant varicosis after EVLA.
