Abstract

Abstract Background: Avulsion fractures of the foot due to supination trauma are frequently encountered on the emergency department. However, there is a lack of evidence-based treatment recommendations and currently expert opinion primarily guides management decisions. Despite the high incidence of the foot fractures after supination trauma, the long-term prognosis of such fractures remains largely unknown. Methods: A systematic review was performed using the Medline and Embase databases to search for studies that reported on clinical outcome 6 months or longer after an avulsion fracture in the foot due to supination trauma.
