Abstract

Background and Aims: It is difficult to determine the cause of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB). Double balloon endoscopy (DBE) can visualize the entire alimentary tract. The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic yield and long-term outcome of patients with OGIB using DBE. Methods: In this retrospective large cohort study, DBE was conducted in 200 consecutive patients with ongoing-overt, previous-overt, or occult OGIB. Follow-up data were available on 151 patients for 29.7 (6-78) months and assessed clinical outcome.
