Abstract

Health professionals working with high-risk babies and their mothers, the families, and the children themselves all have a vested interest in long-term health outcomes for those born very tiny or immature. Such information assists with clinical decision making, including in some cases the decision not to pursue active treatment. Consequently, accurate prognostic data are vital, and need to be continually updated.
