Long-Term Chronic Pain-Relief Outcomes Using an SCS System Capable of Combination Therapy

Abstract

Identification of the most appropriate treatment for chronic pain using Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) is thought to be best achieved using neurostimulation systems capable of customizing therapy according to the needs of each patient. A new commercially-available SCS system can provide for selective-use of multiple waveform options that can be applied to the patient in a sequential or simultaneous manner while also enabling precise targeting of the dorsal horn (an established neuronal-based therapeutic target for chronic pain) and conformational optimization of stimulation field shape.
