Abstract

Atmospheric exposure tests of epoxy primer-coated 7075-T6 structures were carried out in the coastal environment for 7, 12 and 20 years. These structures included plate specimens, center hole plate specimens, and cold-expanded hole specimens. The characteristics of surface corrosion, atmospheric sediments, and corrosion products of specimens were studied. The P-S-N curves of plate specimens exposed for different years were then measured by the single-point test. In addition, the degradation characteristics of fatigue life of specimens with holes after different years of exposure were investigated. Finally, the mechanism of the effect of atmospheric corrosion on the fatigue properties was analyzed.
