Abstract
Timber trusses in an industrial warehouse sustained damage due to excessive snow loads. The owner asked the writer's firm to evaluate the severity of the damage, determine the safe load-carrying capacity of the trusses, and evaluate a proposed repair method to increase their load-carrying capacity. This paper is unique in that it discusses the engineer's role in developing and executing a full-scale load test of timber trusses.
