Abstract

The charge density wave (CDW) structure in 1T–TaS2 has been studied at room temperature using scanning tunneling microscopy. The CDW amplitude shows a continuous long range modulation of ∼6 CDW wavelengths giving rise to a two dimensional pattern of domain-like regions rotated with respect to the CDW superlattice.
