Abstract
One-dimensional long period superstructures (LPS) in Ag 3Mg have been studied by high resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction. Several new polytypes have been found. A free energy model involving competing pair interactions is discussed as a possible candidate for describing the configurational statistics of this alloy system.
