Abstract

Click to increase image sizeClick to decrease image sizeElastic tubes can colapse if the transmural pressure (internal pressure minus external pressure) is negative. A small viscous or inertial pressure drop accompanying fluid through the tube may be enough to cause a Large reduction in area. Such coupling offlow through an eLastic tube with coLLapse ofthe tube arises in veil/s or self-controlled flow rate andpressure regulator devices. The one-dimensional models of flow through these collapsibLe tubes involve the knowledge ofregular head loss in cylindricaL pipes with buckled cross-sections. ln this paper we determine the head loss in laminar flow for such pipes.
