Abstract

Agrochemicals used in Brazilian agriculture have contributed to an increase in productivity, but have also caused serious negative environmental impacts. In order to mitigate environmental damage, reverse logistics processes have been created for dealing with the packaging of those agrochemicals products. The experience ended by becoming a world reference in the area. This article aims to identify the factors that contributed to the construction of a network of shared responsibility in the field of reverse logistics of pesticide containers in the state of Mato Grosso. We present a descriptive exploratory study with bibliographical and documentary techniques. Data was extracted from primary and secondary sources and analysed through content analysis. Several factors contributed to the successful recycling of pesticide containers and packages: the proactive attitudes of farmers; the industry’s positive actions; governmental legislation and the ecological awareness of most of the involved actors.
