Abstract

Climate change is one of the 21st Century Challenges. The need to achieve nations’ commitment at the 21st Conference of Parties to keep global emissions within 2ºC is becoming more relevant than ever. Freight transport emissions are growing. Keeping the same scenario will end in devastating consequences, while ambitious policies may reduce these impacts dramatically. However, the logistics sector's lack of knowledge may create a gap that will hinder achievement of sustainable shifts to a low carbon economy. This paper presents the methodology that, involving logistics industry practitioners and experts on logistics decarbonization, builds the first approach to a holistic education programme on decarbonizing logistics and supply chain management, based on continuous improvement and incorporating the needs of the logistics industry and updates from experts.
