Abstract
1. 1. The lactate dehydrogenase M4 and H4 isoenzymes of the loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta were purified by oxamate affinity chromatography. 2. 2. The kinetic properties of these lactate dehydrogenases resemble those of the homologous homopolymers of most other vertebrates. 3. 3. Unlike the lactate dehydrogenases from turtles of the genus Pseudemys, the Caretta caretta M4 and H4 isoenzymes do not display similar sensitivities to substrate inhibition by pyruvate.
