Abstract

The use of logarithmic arithmetic in implementing digital FIR filters is considered. Simple expressions for the noise variance and mean caused by the logarithmization operation are given. An expression for the noise to signal ratio of the filter is derived. A bit-sliced customdesign integrated circuit implementing the logarithmic FIR filter has been constructed.
