Abstract

Doctors have been flown from Australia to fill the places of striking junior doctors at Whakatane Hospital in New Zealand's North Island. Ten of the hospital's junior doctors are on a three and a half week strike. They want a return to hourly rates of pay and claim that they were being called back after a full day's work to perform duties normally done by other staff.
