Abstract

This chapter explores Locke's political theory, focussing on his conception of the state of nature and the social contract. It also examines Locke's account of the nature of justice and its connection with law. The chapter focuses on analysing the basis of the rights Locke holds to exist in the state of nature. It suggests that Locke's theory is seriously deficient in this regard. It also explores the connection between Locke's theory and the private law.
