Abstract

In a recent review article for CP,' I have expressed my opinion on a number of troubled passages in the minor works of Tacitus. The follow ing discussion gives much of the basis for these judgments. On some of these passages the bibliography is voluminous, and the range of possibilities large. Therefore it has been necessary to be very selective even here. The starting point for discussion will be the latest O.C.T. (1975), by R. M. Ogilvie and Michael Winterbottom. The earlier school edition of the Agricola by Richmond-Ogilvie (1967) is cited as R-O.
