Abstract

Device-to-Device (D2D) communication enables a directdata transmission between User Equipment (UE) without the relayby Base Station (BS). When D2D communication is employedunderlying the Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular network, it canenhance the spectrum utilization, power-saving efficiency andnetwork capacity. However, it might also cause inter-interferenceswhich degrade the system performance. In this paper, we propose anovel scheme called location recommendation and power adjustmentalgorithm (LR&PA) scheme which dynamically adjusts the locationand transmission power of D2D users to reduce inter-interferencesbetween D2D and LTE cellular users so as to enhance the totalsystem capacity. The simulation results illustrate that, comparing toother existing schemes, LR&PA effectively avoids interinterferencesbetween D2D and LTE cellular users, and thusimproves the total capacity in the D2D communication underlyingLTE cellular networks.
