Abstract

Locally most powerful tests and invariant tests are combined in a new detector to test for the presence of a signal in additive white Gaussian noise. Such tests, locally most powerful invariant (LMPI) tests, are defined using a number of orthogonal linear subspaces, and the second-order signal statistics in each subspace.
