Abstract

Stable radiation induced paramagnetic centres (PC) of tooth enamel are usually supposed to be localized in hydroxyapatite crystallite bulk, but in some publications they are considered as surface radicals, though direct experimental proof was not yet fulfilled. This work represents a direct experimental proof of stableradiation PC localization in crystallite bulk based on a study of ambient atmosphere (i.e., atmospheric oxygen) influence upon PC relaxation characteristics.
