Localization of ictal Islamic rituals: Study from epilepsy center in Makkah

Abstract

Ictal semiology is important to aid the diagnosis of seizure type. Patients frequently requires admission to Epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) in order to reach a correct diagnosis of epilepsy type. Some patients may exhibit unusual ictal phenomena that sometime lead to the diagnosis of psychogenic seizure. Some of unusual ictal phenomena are ictal kissing, praying and drinking. Ictal religious speech and praying are examples of the unusual ictal phenomena. The aim of this study is to assess the localization value of ictal Islamic rituals.
