Abstract

riety changed from green to buffy-gold on extended exposure to bright sunlight. Spores not exposed to sunlight were unchanged in color after two years. A buffy-gold spore print has also been reported for certain tropical Chlorophyllum species (1) and sometimes for C. molybdites (5). Spore color varies very little in Lepiota cristata. The discovery of a green-spored variant may have some taxonomic significance for the Lepiotaceae. The authors want to thank Roy E. Halling for his encouragement and helpful suggestions in the preparation of this article.
