Abstract
In the presence of a static magnetic field, atoms moving in an electromagnetic field with a polarization gradient are bunched around a few momenta that are located on a lattice in momentum space. We show how to construct this lattice in two and three dimensions and present an experiment performed with cesium atoms that gives results that are in excellent agreement with the theoretical predictions.
