Abstract

Electron microscope autoradiography has been used to demonstrate directly the adrenergic nature of the type B fibers in the pars intermedia of Xenopus laevis. Using 6-hydroxydopamine, it has been shown that these fibers can be selectively removed leaving the A type fibers morphologically unchanged without affecting the adrenergic elements in that part of the central nervous system protected by the blood-brain barrier.
