Abstract

Effects of a magnetic field and spin-orbit interactions on localization effects are studied numerically in square lattices. Extended states present in each Landau level in strong magnetic fields (small randomness) merge together and disappear with increasing randomness. In weak magnetic fields, the field tends to reduce the localization near the band center, while the localization is enhanced in the band tail region. Spin-orbit interactions cause effects similar to those of a weak magnetic field, but much stronger.
