Abstract

Summary Anthocyanic and tannic compounds were deposited during the autumn and winter periods, in different tissues of Spirodela polyrhiza turions. They were abundant in the periphery of the organs and around the meristematic zones. They undergo fluctuations during winter period, and also at the time of sprouting. The different ultrastructural characters of the vacuolar inclusions are showed and reported with their functions (cooling resistance).
