Abstract
Partial Discharges (PDs) are reported as the main reason for failure of High Voltage (HV) power apparatus leading to sudden failure of entire electrical system, such irreversible discharges takes place in the area of inhomogenities due to uneven charge distribution on dielectric medium. Therefore it becomes essential to monitor the PD activities in HV power apparatus before it completely damage the whole system. Many techniques are already proposed and applied to identify the PD activity along with its severity and localization in HV power apparatus with their advantages and disadvantages. One of the useful methods is radio frequency (RF) method using ultra high frequency (UHF) sensor. In recent trend of research it is challenging to find the location of different PD sources in a complex network system. In this paper the authors explain and experimentally prove the localization of two PD sources using UHF sensors invasively with more accuracy. Delay calculation of the recorded signal pulses using multiple sensors is the idea behind the study.
