Abstract

A path integral estimator is presented for the local superfluid response at impurities and interfaces in quantum fluids. The estimator is shown to provide a consistent analysis for the rotational response in inhomogeneous Bose systems. Applications are made to the response of superfluid helium in highly structured solvation layers around small linear molecules ($\mathrm{C}{\mathrm{O}}_{2}$ and OCS) and around a large planar molecule (phthalocyanine) in helium clusters of variable size.
