Local slip in tight joints on torque application

Abstract

In the calculation of tight joints under a torque, both the pliability of the joined components and the tangential pliability of the contact layer should be taken into account. This increases the accuracy in determining the torque distribution over the length of the joint and permits the prediction of fretting in the joint.
