Abstract

IT IS in the supplementary activities related to holding meetings that the local sections begin to show their individuality. As far as technical programs are concerned, many sections are alike, and some let it go at that. But others find that programs are improved and greater interest is developed by including nontechnical features on their programs and conducting special activities in conjunction with meetings. Some sections schedule occasional plant trips, some include films on their programs, and a few present after-dinner speakers on nontechnical topics. Most of the sections have dinners with more or less regularity, but those which serve refreshments after meetings are in the minority. A few sections appoint hospitality or reception committees to promote fellowship at meetings, but more frequently reported is the use of name badges to facilitate this objective.
