Abstract

From a detailed analysis of the self-polarization field obtained from NMR experiments on several rare-earth nuclei in the RAl 2 series, we obtain reasonable estimations of the local orbital, spin and quadrupolar polarization of 5d conduction electrons: 〈 l z 〉 d⩽0.06, 〈 s z 〉 d⩽0.09, 〈 l z 2-2〉 d⩽0.05.
