Abstract

We derive a generalized Stoner criterion for the stability of local magnetic moments with various orientations for the case of the Alexander-Anderson-Moriya band structure model. The calculation of the variation of the local moment with magnetic order for both strong ferromagnets and weak antiferromagnets allows us to conclude that the more the Stoner criterion is fulfilled in the ground state, the less the local moments are sensitive to disorder.
