Abstract
Local magnetic interactions in Gd x Fe 1- x amorphous films were assessed by combining Mössbauer hyperfine field H data with X-ray diffraction information about the partial coordinations Fe-Fe and Fe-Gd, in the frame of a molecular field model with two sublattices (Fe and Gd). The H( x) dependence yielded the ratio of exchange integrals A FeFe A FeGd , which was found to be in agreement with data reported in the literature, derived from magnetic measurements. Thus, Mössbauer parameters are shown to be directly related to local magnetic field, via the exchange integrals.
