Abstract

(Can J Anaesth. 2016;63(3):330–349) Local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST) is a life-threatening complication that must be considered whenever local anesthetic is administered. Research has shown that with the use of ultrasound guidance and the development of new techniques, such as tissue plane blocks and local infiltration analgesia, the incidence of LAST is relative rare.
