Abstract
The present paper examines strategic choices in the international management of social responsibility. The aim is to determine the best relationship between global and local strategies in the enactment of corporate social responsibility by foreign subsidiaries in Brazil. Results show that multiple strategic choices are possible, however, best performance is achieved through the combination of a corporate strategy with local responsiveness and a globally aligned corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy. Evidence also suggests that adopting a globally aligned CSR strategy shows the best results due to institutional influences.
