Abstract

The current study investigates the steady-state analysis of temperature distribution and phase change for steel slab in the continuous casting process. The thermal boundary conditions are described using the local and area-averaged heat transfer coefficients in the secondary cooling zones. The finite volume method is used to discrete and solve the governing equations. The simulated results are presented for temperature distribution in 2D and 3D contours as well as solid thicknesses of steel. The results are validated with the measurements in the industrial companies and previous literature review while a good agreement is observed between the above results.
