Abstract

This paper proposes a voltage preventive control strategy as an activity to support the operation programming of the power system. This strategy is based on the maximization of the loading margin by optimizing the power factor adjustment of wind farms that most significantly impact this stability margin. The power system used to test this proposal is a 56-bus system prepared with actual data from the Northeast (NE) subsystem of Brazilian Interconnected Power System (BIPS), which includes 22 wind farms. This system was used in several simulations to validate the proposed strategy, which presented satisfactory results.
