Abstract

In this paper an equation for filler efficiency for ceramic–polymer 0–3 composites is presented. The equation was found to be evidently applicable for classifying composites based on their dielectric properties and the volume fractions of fillers used. The presented filler efficiency equation was analyzed and evaluated using measurement results of previously reported ceramic–polymer composites in the permittivity range of 5.41–30.47 at 1GHz frequency. In addition, Looyenga and general mixing model equations were utilized in evaluations of the filler efficiency equation using theoretical dielectric samples. By using the presented equation valuable information can be provided for the selection of fillers and thus it could be utilized for composite optimization in multiple industrial and research applications.
