Abstract

The paper deals with the testing of Linguistic Fuzzy-Logic Control (LFLC) for the purposes of interstand sections of continual rolling mills. The tests were focused primarily on properties and robustness of LFLC when exposed to complex time course of load torque of variable speed drives (VSDs). To make the simulation experiments close reality, there was as a part of the tests detailed measurements and analysis of actual load torques of VSDs at Medium Section Continual Rolling Mill in ArcelorMittal Ostrava. When we measured different variables, we applied also methods of technical diagnostics — e.g. for identification of resonant areas of mechanical parts of rolling stand VSDs. The paper partly follows the papers [1] and [2], which were presented at ICCC 2014 and ICCC 2015.
