Abstract

This paper focuses on the load frequency control of a single area hybrid power system which is a conjugation of conventional and renewable energy sources. Dish-stirling solar thermal system (DSTS) plant is used as a renewable energy source and the thermal, diesel plant are used as a conventional energy source. Genetic algorithm has been implemented for optimizing the gain parameters of the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller to attain frequency control in hybrid power system. Based on the simulation analysis, the productiveness of the PID controller is measured with the proposed intelligent controller (Fuzzy-PID). The comparative performance analysis shows that Fuzzy-PID controller realization is better than the traditional PID controller. In the proposed hybrid system, control action of automatic voltage regulator (AVR) influences the automatic load frequency control (ALFC) loop.
