Abstract

This paper demonstrates the performance of DSTATCOM in a stiff system under unbalanced and distorted load condition. Two-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter topology is utilize for DSTATCOM arrangement. Control of DSTATCOM is carried out by generating the reference currents using Instantaneous Symmetrical Component Theory (ISCT) to accomplish load compensation. Hysteresis current control scheme is employ to attain better tracking performance so as to ameliorate quality of power. Graphical and analytical results show the efficacy of ISCT based DSTATCOM under unbalanced and non-linear load condition. Extensive digital simulation is done using MATLAB environment.
