Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine the relationship between organizational commitment of primary school teachers and the teachers’ perceptions about principles’ distributed leadership roles. In research process, 35 items data collection tool consists of “Organizational Commitment Scale”, “Distributed Leadership Scale” and personal information form was applied to 324 teachers. F and t tests were used for determining the differences between variables and effect size values were calculated. Additionally, correlation analysis was performed to determine the relationship between the teachers’ organizational commitment and perceptions about principles’ distributed leadership roles, and determination coefficient was found. The teachers’ Affective Commitment is higher level, Countenance Commitment is lower level and Normative Commitment is lowest level that is seen when results were examined. Also, there are moderate level positive relations between the teachers’ perceptions about the principles’ distributed leadership roles and Affective and Normative Commitment. In accordance with this result, to produce statues, salary and prize policies, to increase sharing and communication using with set-ups like meetings, special days celebrations, trips and to form an organizational environment which support the participation to decisions, share leadership, encourage cooperation, take responsibility by personnel are suggested for increasing organizational commitment of teachers.
