Abstract
The lizards of Baja California and the Sea of Cortés is represented by nine families, 21 genera, and 84 species. This chapter discusses the identification, taxonomy, distribution, geographic variation, and natural history of the following lizard fauna: Crotaphytidae (collard and leopard lizards), Iguanidae (iguanas and chuckwallas), Phynosomatidae (sand, rock, horned, spiny, fringe-toed, brush, and side-blotched lizards), Eublepharidae (eye-lidded geckos), Gekkonidae (Geckos), Teiidae (whiptails), Xantusiidae (night lizards), Scincidae (skinks), and Aguidae (legless and alligator lizards).
