Abstract
Nontobeko Magwaza (not her real name) opens her office door with a smile telling you to feel at home. Her handshake is warm and welcoming. She makes you feel comfortable when she offers you a seat on her cosy couch. Magwaza, a young, HIV-positive mother, is running a counselling centre called Siphilangomusa (We are living in God's mercy) in South Africa's east coast city Durban. She has made it her life's ambition to encourage those living with the virus to do so in a positive way. Magwaza was diagnosed with HIV 11 years ago, at the age of 23.
