Abstract

Euthanasia and recent legislation is discussed. The pro-euthanasia movements speak of euthanasia as a choice. The author argues that to say that euthanasia is a choice denies the fact that the decision to end your life is rarely made apart from factors that place immense pressure on the individual. The notions of 'quality of life', 'sanctity of life' and 'dignity' are discussed. This article is the Margaret Dooley Award - winning essay.
