Language as the media used by community can bring up an interesting language phenomenon as a cultural practice (Duranti: 1997). The researcher investigated comprehensively and elaboratively about marriage proposal in which the main focus was headed to the aspects of utterances and the relevant cultural contexts. Jakobson’s poetic theory through the aspect of parallelism is used to investigate the entire state of the text This theory answers all research questions, whether the marriage proposal speeches are characterized by the use of parallelism or they only the ordinary language spoken by the speakers in everyday conversation. From all definitions of metaphor above, it can be concluded that metaphor is an effort of combining two entities to produce a new meaning that is different from the original one This metaphoric concept is used to view and interpret the speech of marriage proposal activity.
