Abstract
1. 1. Liver cytochrome P-450 microsomal mixed-function oxidase, and cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase activities were determined in an age- and sex-related study of an obese, arthritic and hyperlipidaemic inbred strain of mice (STR/1N), and compared with CF1 albino and C 3H strains of mice. 2. 2. Liver cytochrome P-450 and cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase in both sexes of sexually-mature STR/1N mice were lower than in control strains. 3. 3. Aged STR/1N mice showed only a decrease in liver cytochrome P-450 content, and weanling mice showed no significant differences in these parameters between the various strains. 4. 4. A higher serum cholesterol concentration in sexually-mature and aged STR/1N mice was confirmed.
