Clostridia, however, may often be present at the site of accidental or surgical trauma without causing clinical infection. This close association of clostridial infection with trauma, together with the rarity of other clinical types of infection, has been considered as evidence that some peculiar host factors, usually presumed to be necrotic tissue without oxygen supply, are required for initiation of infection by these organisms. The present report...Bibliography1.
