Abstract
Background: Neurodegenerative or Alzheimer disease can be very traumatic old age disease. Current treatments for neurodegenerative diseases help to mask the symptoms but do not treat the underlying condition. Neuritin is reported to mediate NGF-induced axonal regeneration. It is a downstream target of classic synaptic plasticity signaling cascade and its expression is induced in presynaptic neurons upon contact with their target.
